Designer Brent Christensen tediously builds dazzling castles made entirely of icicles. Working exclusively with frozen ice spheres, Christensen begins with a pool of water frozen on top grass blades as the foundation. Water cements the icicles in place, eventually growing to form 3,000 to 5,000 icicles per day. Using millions of gallons of water for each castle, a team of 20 crew members create towering displays reaching heights of 20 to 25 feet. While the outer facade is nothing short of amazing, the interior design of the chilly architectural constructions include tunnels, archways, walls, and stairs. At night, the ice castles are illuminated from within by multi-colored LED lights. How enchanting!
