It always bothers me when I search high and low for a permanent marker, finally find one, open the cap to use it and it’s dried out! But for Malaysian artist Chun Fui Ng, nothing is better than the dried out marker look. Fui Ng, also known as Floyd Grey, skillfully uses various degrees of faint marker strokes to define value in his subjects and to produce patterns on their apparel. His use of negative space to create a cohesive drawing is amazing. Surprisingly, all of Ng’s illustrations are produced in Photoshop where he customizes his own tapered off brushes to produce the faded look. It’s no wonder Floyd Grey’s art is sought after in fashion houses around the world!
