Photographer Janne Parviainen “paints” mystical light photographs that highly resemble 3D topographical maps. While tracing over every surface in a dark room with a colored light, Parviainen takes photographs using a long exposure setting on his camera. The results are eerie, but utterly amazing photos that seem to be painted with a neon brush.

Fall in love with this bold and beautiful line of handcrafted body jewelry brought to us by Alexis Turner, an artist based out of Savannah GA who recently graduated with a Masters Degree in Metal & Jewelry.  In her newest series entitled RUN, from her LexieBec collection, each piece was designed to exude a strong sense of uniqueness and personality portraying somewhat of an overall exotic nature.  Dramatically styled yet still elegantly refined, the creative assortment, filled with varying textures, patterns and materials, comes together to create quite the stunning display. When wearing one of these striking showpieces, no other adornments are needed.

” The concept behind this body of work is the evolution of womanhood, I divided the evolution into three phases Rebel, Conquer and re-deFine. Each phase of womanhood is symbolized within the jewelry through the handling of process and materials. The title the RUN is based on the idea of when a woman evolves she sets the pace and forward motion of society.”

Have you ever wanted an elaborate tattoo just for a day? Well you can skip your little brother’s temporary tattoo collection and try a much classier concept to the tattoo approach. London studio, Logical Art    presents a series of light, paper-like necklaces that will adorn your neck and might be mistaken for a permanent tattoo. Titled Air Tattoo, the collective features intricately cut pieces that come in a variety of light necklace designs. Fortunately, the paper material is constructed of a very sturdy, tough, water-proof and non-tearable material, so the jewelry can be worn in any weather. The necklaces essentially look like beautiful drawings that might leave many onlookers fooled!

I’m sure you’ve all been watching some of the greatest athletic events that happen but once every four years. At the Olympics, true talent comes out, competition is fierce, and the best man wins the gold. When the creme de la creme are performing on the world stage, you know the venues have to look spectacular! Berlin-based architecture firm Magma Architecture brings true talent to the table with their sustainable Shooting Range venue at this year’s Olympic games in London.

“Three mobile buildings will accomodate the 10, 25 and 50 m shooting competitions. Shooting is a sport in which the results and progress of the competition are hardly visible to the eye of the spectator. The design of the shooting venue was driven by the desire to evoke an experience of flow and precision inherent in the shooting sport through the dynamically curving space.
All three ranges were configured in a crisp, white double curved membrane façade studded with vibrantly colored openings. As well as animating the façade these dots operate as tensioning nodes. The openings also act as ventilation intake and doorways at ground level.”

The venue looks like it’s either been shot with a paint gun, or a sea anemone lives inside. Either way, I think we’d all love to be in London right now taking in all of the amazing spectacles!

The “Highness” project features the works of amazing photographer Delphine Diaw Diallo and artists Tresse Agoche, Soull Ogun and Dynasty Presh.  The striking photos are all visually profound, each capturing an underlying element of bold expression, beauty, strength and power within a single frame. By partially concealing the women’s faces with woven masks, the images become even that much more compelling as the viewer searches to find the underlying meaning behind the collection. As a graduate from the Academie Charpentier School of Visual Art in Paris, Delphine describes her works as a mixed portrait of “reality and imaginary consciousness, fashion with documentary photography and tradition with modernity.” Created to capture a moment that proves to be thought evoking, Delphine hopes her works will allow viewers to see the “true gift that is women.”

“The “Highness” project, starts a new vision in the 21th century which includes mediums of sculpture, design, photography, collages, and music.  It is a vision of a new era which gives birth to an evolved future where the audience experiences the gift that is woman.  In this, we create a capsule of work that becomes timeless and unbound, a vision for future observers to witness. Indefinite and inevitable, this future will exist…”

Peruvian artist Cecilia Paredes is actually in the following photos. The artist paints herself to blend in with the colorful wallpaper behind her. The point of Cecilia’s artwork is to demonstrate the need to blend into the landscape and one’s surroundings once a migration has taken place. Often, we all need to step back and realize that we are one with nature. In her transformation, Paredes truly becomes a Wallflower!
