Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs have teamed up for the first time in fifteen years to create a cool eye-catching collection that was featured March 9 at Les Arts Decoratifs in Paris. By incorporating the beauty of vintage design with modern construction, the two have pushed the boundaries fashion. With an array of pieces made up of endless layers and dramatic silhouettes, they have managed to put together an exhibit that merges art and fashion design to create, for the viewer, a highly visual and  memorable experience.

If you’re like me and have the worst time getting out of bed in the morning because the warm covers just won’t let you go, I think I’ve found a solution. Meet Clocky. And Tocky. These mini alarm clocks pack a huge punch because they will run, jump, and roll away from you when you try to hit the “Snooze” button. You’ll be forced to get out of bed to find your mini-alarm clock friend, and voila! You’re up and at em! Clocky is the brainchild of Gauri Nanda of Nanda Home. As an MIT graduate student, Guari was a Snooze Button repeat offender and was always late for class. Enter the genius of Clocky and Tocky. Fusing her love for aesthetics and her passion for fixing things, Nanda Home came to fruition. Watch Clocky in action!

When you look for a mate, you’re probably searching for personality, intelligence, a sense of humor. Why should the objects we share our lives with be any different? That’s where we come in. Nanda Home is a collection of charming and useful objects for your home.

It’s an orange elephant! Why? Simply because its fascinating to look at. I want one! It speaks to my inner child and creative imagination. Designer Javier Requejo from EStuodio Nap sought to recreate an animal that would bring about an intriguing element of interest through it’s unique use of texture and contradiction in color. The piece houses a metal core with an exterior layer that is covered with over 150,000 threads of knotted polypropylene. So what do you think?  Does it catch your eye?

The votes are in, and the trends for Spring/Summer 2012 are vibrant neons, mixed patterns and clothes that scream, “Look at me!” .  As conveyed in photographer Markus Pritzi‘s latest editorial shoot, Electric Kool-Aid Acid, bold is better. The shoot was featured in the first magazine issue, Interview Germany. Pritzi projects patterns onto the model through a process called human mapping so the tedious task of changing outfits is eliminated. How cool are these prints?

Designer Nic Parnell has put together a vibrant eclectic collection of fixtures made solely from reclaimed and found wood.  The contrasting colorful assortment of pieces are, for the most part, kept in their original frame as to not take away from the characteristic beauty of the natural wood.  Their organic shapes are used functionally in the designs becoming the housing unit for tabletops, lampshades and mores. I love the easygoing nature of each of the pieces, and yet somehow they all scream high style.

Internationally renowned furniture designer, Kenneth Cobonpue has launched a new line of lounge furniture titled Cabaret. The furniture’s over sized back and arms are enough to catch your attention, but it’s the knotted detail that draws you in. Tables that appear to be stitched makes the furniture a cohesive line with unprecedented attention to detail. I can imagine Cabaret poolside at a luxurious hotel or a featured focal piece in a botanic garden. Be sure to check out Kenneth’s extensive portfolio.

Take a look at this extraordinary collection by David Adey. Born 1972 in Morristown, New Jersey, the talented artist puts together stunning images, often cut from magazines using an array of craft-punches, and then re-assembles them together onto a foam core using pins. He works have been featured in top ads with a client list ranging from Gucci to Bebe. In between creating his own masterpieces, the artist also teaches sculpture, 3D design, contemporary art and illustration, helping other young artists at Point Loma Nazarene University fine tune their craft.

Have you ever stopped to wonder what an art exhibition would be like for someone who is visually impaired?  Obviously, it’d be very unrewarding. Fortunately, there are people in the world like Israeli visual artist Roy Nachum who take the time to help enable the blind to experience the colors, the emotions, and the visual beauty of beautiful paintings.  Nachum’s latest exhibit, BLIND, combines oil paintings with Braille signage. Prior to creating art for the blind, Nachum would create his images by utilizing the idea of using paint-pixels. Each ‘pixel’ was painted one-by-one with a pallet knife, every pixel growing together to finally unify the entire work.  The end result would be a rich and complete work of art. Expounding on this exclusive technique, Nachum created “blind art” in which Braille is incorporated into the piece. All the texts comprise poems written by the artist and inspired by the paintings, so the blind viewer can ultimately see the piece through their mind’s eye by physically touching it. Consequently, those with vision are forced to question the limitations of their eye sight while the blind can mentally connect with the art. How beautiful are the pieces, both inside and out?

No one likes to be put in a box, unless it’s one that’s this stylishly designed of course. Sometimes less truly is more. Sleek modern and minimal, this innovative idea of Outdoor and Passdoor created by Gandia Blasco allows you to experience the life, energy and beauty of the great outdoors with the connivence and comfort of an indoor shelter. Passdoor implies a double circulation, a passageway  in and out and visa versa. Showing how it can be used throughout the four seasons, the “Cristal Box” puts a fresh spin on outdoor living. So what do you think? Would you be inspired to spend more time in the great outdoors in the shelter of your “box”
