How fun would it be to work at Lego? With an environment just as visually stimulating, colorful and creative as the toy collection itself, its floor plan was created to mirror the imaginative and playful designs so often associated with the brand. The project, headed by designers Rosan Bosch and Rune Fjord, was completed in 2010 and features an open floor plan that encourages social interaction and involvement. The design is all in the details whether your peering at the wooden tables with cutouts for your legs, the unexpected slide that can be used to get you from floor to floor, or the huge library that features a mural of an oversized Lego design.

It’s a “working environment where fun, play and creativity are paramount and where the physical design gives the adults a chance to be part of children’s play.”

For a fashion fanatic, attention to detail is crucial right down to the size, shape and color of the buttons. I’ve become a button collector myself, finding different uses for them ranging from necklaces to earrings. In end, I painstakingly must admit that artist Augusto Esquivel has out designed me hands down with his extraordinary works! He meticulously strings together buttons and then hangs them to create stunning 3D portraits. While a single button may seem small and insignificant, Esquivel manages to connect each one to form a vibrant piece of art. I must say, my favorite would have to be the 3D toilet! Designer Philip Hansen of Typewriter Boneyard has decided that there are many creative things you can do with a book long after its story has been read. Once the story is finished, with the book destined to be put on your shelf for display, why not transform it in something cool and unexpected? Spending hours in the thrift stores around his town of San Diego, Philip and his wife Chelsea look for key elements when picking books for their light fixtures, color, texture and the overall design aesthetic. How cool would it be to display one of these on your side table and simply switch it on the next time your inspired to read another good book?

UK design company Kirv is on an ergonomic mission. The company designs furniture to fit the movement and comfort of the human body, and the Kirv Nest seating does not disappoint. This stainless steel chair is perfect for sipping lemonade in a garden or by a pool. The glamorous design of the enclosed nest and polyester seating for two adds prestige to any venue the seating is placed. I’d love to relax in one of these on a lazy Sunday afternoon! In a small town called Jaujac, located in the south of France, they’ve rolled out the royal carpet, just not in your typical hue. The grassy path created by Marseille based artist, Gaelle Villedary leads you throughout the old city enticing you to take a leisurely stroll. With a landscape surrounded by lush greenery, the dramatic carpet sets the stage for an unique and charming experience. Tourist from all over the world come to take in the unique nature trails and the historic sites.

What if the falling sand in an hour-glass were to stop falling? Would time stop? Japanese designer Shinobu Koizumi has succeeded in making time stand still; or at least his latest design has. Koizumi’s hour-glass shaped side/coffee table called Moment helps us picture a second in time. Constructed completely of sand, this piece of furniture reminds us that there is no time but now, present. We cannot live in the past nor the future, but live 100% in the current moment. I’d love to get a closer look at Moment in person!

Try bringing out these little guys at wine night. A collaborative design between Monkey Business and Reddish Studio these quirky fun little characters can be made up and assembled using an array of animal parts to make a fun addition to your party. Each kit contains all the parts needed to create whichever strange ensemble you desire. How fun!

Australian born artist Gavin Brown sees the bright side of sinister situations, literally. Brown’s vibrant paintings are captivating  despite all of the madness that lies within the illustrations. While the people in the paintings seem disturbed, being surrounded by birds, flowers and bright brush strokes, makes everything seem to balance out.

“You cannot blame the Melbourne-born, 47-year-old Brown for subtlety or minimalism. His world is populated by richly coloured graffiti-like images of people and situations where fleshy faces and tattooed skin compete for attention with birds, fruit and flowers. The vivid richness and underlying drama contradict each other.” – The Cool Hunter

It’s almost time for Easter and who wouldn’t love to receive an oversized basket? Well, this time around I have my eye on a basket of a different sort. Designed by Ola Gillgreen, this “Big Basket” chair, woven in seemingly the same manner as that of a traditional wicker basket, immediately catches your eye through its unique visual that’s very reminiscent of fish scaled layers. The stylish integration of color and its oversized frame forces it to stand out as a creative and innovative design. The mixing of traditional techniques with a modern aesthetic made from wool-felt over a steel frame makes it suitable for both any traditional and stylishly modern decor.

Check out these revolutionary black and white photos that have been brought to life with color!  Self-taught colorizer Sanna Dullaway has colorized an abundance of photographs using a Wacom Bamboo Tablet and Photoshop. The newly added color gives the viewer a whole new perspective on the events or people featured, making the picture not just something of the past, but something real.
