Why a comb of all things? Who knows, but I love the idea all the same. Created for the city of Roanoke, this 400 pound bike stand is both fun to look at and functionally applicable. The heavy comb was handcrafted and put together using mortis and tenon construction. Used as a stand, one big wiry Read more

These frames are so cool! I’m trying to get hold of a pair IMMEDIATELY. Designed by Drift, the frames are handmade and constructed from sustainable wood. Though simplistic in design, the construction was well thought out by founder Chris Mantz, who mirrored the steel structure of his frame after the architectural “curtain wall” design (used in construction to transfer the structural weight of a building from the outer walls to the inner Read more

Studio Swine now has a sustainable line of shades entitled, “Hair Glasses.” It’s a collection of fashionable sunglasses constructed using human hair. I can’t stop gawking at this beautiful sculptural design by Heatherwick Studio. It’s a bewitchingly beautiful piece that could hold my attention for hours. Located in London’s Welcome Trust headquarters, this sculpture was commissioned, soon after the construction of their new building in 2006, to be hung within their eighty-story atrium space above a pool of water. Although the area to be designed was a considerably large space, since the sculpture was commissioned after the buildings completion, the design studio was forced with the challenge of creating a piece that would be grandeur enough to make a statement in the space while still being able to fit through a standard size door during installation.
